    Tig welding tungsten ( welding rod) lasts a looooong time, if you can keep it out of the weld puddle. Your Ag instructor should have answered, Depends on the welder.....
  2. Oh I beg to differ 🙂. I believe my two shift collar pins were sheared off when the reversible shaft exited out of the drive tube pulling the sense tube with it. Once the pins were sheared off the sense tube could no longer shift the PTO back into 540 range
  3. Parking Brake wear! The warning beeper quits, Operators drive with it engaged. Wears it out. Gotta split tractor to repair. Not a big deal if you have a loader to anchor it or farm flat land. PTO shift pins! I believe they fail because of wear between reversible shaft splines and drive tube splines also from wear in reversible shaft snap ring and drive tube snap ring groove. Manual says to clean and grease the installed end of PTO shaft. I wonder if that happened in the field and lack of lube attributes to the wear?? To pre buy check of course make sure it turns both 540 and 1000
  4. From my 5120 operators manual. For hyd motors, Need to be on 1st remote and off is in float, and pull lever “up” to turn on motor. Also check variable flow is turned to 15-17gpm at the remote
  5. Thanks to all for sharing pics and stories. One of WWII B25 missions that stands out to me is Doolittle’s Tokyo Raiders. Take off from a Aircraft Carrier, with extra fuel, and wooden tail guns, drop bombs on Tokyo, land in China. If anybody is traveling near Lincoln NE I highly recommend a stop at the SAC museum in Ashland NE.

  7. This knob is NO Longer available. Most of the items I’ve needed this far for the 5120 my dealer has been able to get.
  8. Would like to replace the missing knob on my 5120 3 point height lever. P/N 1958670C1. Tried my Case IH dealer, Tractor Parts ASAP, & google. To no avail. Any parts sources?
  9. I’m no Ford 6.0 expert but a quick internet search and found that injector tip can do come off and may or may not cause that much damage. If it were me Pull injector, bore scope cylinder for condition, put a “good used” injector in see how it runs. At this point you aren’t going to do any more harm to the cylinder.   11. I needed 15 gallons for my 5120 yesterday and my CaseIH dealer was out of 5 gallon pails of Hytran. Parts guy says we have NH Masertraction you can just use that, it’s equivalent..... Grrrrr, if I just want equivalent fluid, I can buy much cheaper fluid......

  14. No discount that I’m aware of. I think price is fair from the dealer, it would just be the convenience of having them on hand. These two delayed a Late Saturday project till today..
  15. While working on different repairs on the 5120 i have needed and replaced several “flat faced” o-rings that I have looked up and ordered thru my Case IH dealer. I would like to order a O-Ring kit for the shop so I don’t have to travel 45 min each way to the dealer fo a 90 cent part. What style Fittings are these ORS, Boss or something other?? SAE or Metric any recommendations on kits?
