Dad went to a tractor reduction auction at friend's in Kansas in 1996. He had heard there was a low hour 806 there, and our original 806 had many hours on it. First purchase was an 806 Wheatland that "was going too cheap". Then he got the Farmall 806 he wanted. He called me that evening wondering if I was interested in a 1456 for $6000. It didn't bring that in the sale so it was pulled. Well, yeah. Trucking added $1200 per tractor. This is what arrived a few weeks later after trucking was arranged. Truck driver said he got lots of thumbs up while coming cross country. Understandable. I still have the 1456 and Wheatland. My brother has the Farmall 806.14 points

....I always liked the old Nash for the heavy work ......repowered it with a Dodge six engine,.....but for weekend hunting and opossuming forays into the back country ...the old 1928 Chevrolet with its powerfull four cylinder OHV and the Rugby gear box fitted behind the original three speed Chev box, was unequalled in its ability to scramble through rivers and with its 23 inch wheels with Farmal Cub tractor tyres fitted (wired ) over the original tyres..it was almost unstopable.....Great feature was the detachable cab.... This business of running on the rural roads , came to an expensive halt , when I was stopped by a ''troffic crap '' (traffic Cop )...whereupon the pictured dog (on both trucks.)..lept out and bit the cop severely on his leg....suffice to say..it did not end well for me...''Pooch'' was fine though, no infection from the Cop's leg........... I imported the F 100 from Australia....brand new....It seemed a bit more versatile than the early, pictured, American pickups it seemed better on rainy days..bit more comfortable................................................. 1995 F250 4x4was a good truck for me in my younger years. 1980 Scout II SD33-T, T-19, D300, Dana 44’s, lockers, custom bumpers, Rallye package, aluminum radiator, electric fans, custom intake, 4” lift, Method wheels. 1979 F-250 4x4 “Snow Plow Special” Purchased in 2008 with 14,000mi on it. Gutless 351M, C6, NP205, Dana 60’s with 4:10s. I still have the Scout but the rest are gone.11 points

1977 ford f250 not so much because of reliability needs a carb rebuild, but I bought it from my neighbor who taught me a lot about life, old times, caterpillars, and ford tractors. I put another engine in it, was knocking when I bought it. He passed away last year unfortunately. Other reasons I like it is the 4.9 I put back in and the NP435 😀10 points

I have had several new trucks. They are very nice and these new diesels have amazing power but just like my taste in tractors, it’s the ones from when I was growing up that make me smile! I am a ford guy but dad had a 1977 just like this except his was a manual and this one is a automatic. I love to drive this thing. I am the second owner. Bought it on a farm sale. The farmer bought it new In Stronghurst Il and used it to pull a goose neck grain trailer to haul his grain. Has 60,000 (I think that is right) but the 400 has been taken out and it has a 350 now.10 points

got low hours kinda but they sure look to be the tires it came from Rock Island with. The first set of radials I saw was a brand new 1086 we sold new back n the late summer of 1979 and I remember that farmer saying how unbelieveable those radials were to plow with and that tractor looks as good today as it did the day he picked it up at our the dealership9 points

January 28, 2023 Journal Entry by Emily Leinenbach — 12 minutes ago Zach beat his record with over 5 1/2 hours in the weaning trial today. Overall things are otherwise stable. Please continue to pray for full weaning from ventilatory support, independent breathing, full body healing, nerve regeneration, and functional movement. We pray for return to home and all being together again. We pray that God defies the odds/timing and this all happens quickly. We are thankful for the support around us. We appreciate the prayers. thank you.9 points

Pretty hard to beat the square body GMs. Ive been running this 81 Sierra Classic since 1986 and it still does all I need a truck to do. Hauls fuel, water, seed and chemical. Got a heater that will roast you even in a Sask. winter. Smooth and stable on gravel roads at well above the posted limit. And that Olds gas engine just won't quit. Its turned over the odometer a time or two in those years.9 points

My favourite is easy! I bought my ‘79 in 1991 when I was 15. It’s a heavy 3/4 ton, full time 4x4 and automatic. 350 with 4 bolt main, TH400 and NP203 I drove it full time until I found my ‘95 2 years ago. The ‘79 has 565,000 (351074 miles)trouble free km on the clock. I hardly ever had to spend any money besides gas in the ‘79! I did restore it in 2004, but it’s time for a body job again. The 95 is nearly all original, and I really love it for the ride and interior, and the ability to run 80 mph on the interstates. It has 290,000 km. (1801197 miles). But nothing beats the ‘79 for all around use for real truck stuff.7 points

I've had alot of square bodies and every body style Chevy/GMC from '73 to current but the '73 Cheyenne Super 10 with factory 454/TH400/12 bolt was my favorite with my '79 K20 350/SM465/NP205 a close second. Like an idiot I sold the '73. I've still got the '79 and use it almost daily on the farm but the body is getting pretty rusty. These pictures are from back in 2010.7 points

Basically started life as a 292, Bored to a 302, custom made ported aluminum heads, isky cam, 7 quart oil pan, MSD ignition system, roller rockers , some machine work on the oil passages , a high flow custom water pump and an aluminum timeing cover. We tested a few different cams on the dyno and ended up with a rather mild drivable good sounding one and every rotating part was balanced even the clutch and flywheel. It actually performed better at high RPM with an aluminum single plane single 4 barrel carb then it did with the three duces. In reality they dont flow as well and they ended up making 30 HP less compared to the 4 barrel.7 points

I think this has been done before since I’ve been here. But I got this idea from the Favorite IH tractors on the Farm thread and thought it would be neat to see some of your guys favorite pickups you’ve owned over the years. This is my 1992 GMC 1500 single cab, long bed. Its name is “Phantom 392” coming from a Red Sovine song titled “Phantom 309.” For mine I kept the 3 because it has a 350 engine and 92 is for the year. Anyhow mine has 4wd and now has over 227,000 miles. Actually today I turned over 19,000 miles since I’ve had it. Phantom was manufactured in June of ‘92 and was sold October 21st that year in my hometown with 185 miles on it. That dealer is now a restaurant. Here’s the most recent picture taken of Phantom from last weekend. I am going to college right now at West Texas A&M in Canyon and this was taken southwest of town Share all types, I’d like to see what you all have! I share more on my pickup later!5 points

Guess l have two favorites. The black one is a ''95 F-150 with a 5.0 V-8 and a 5 speed manual. Had A/C and new tires when l bought it. l got from a friend that was trying to get enough money for a down payment on a new Mustang. l literally found this '67 F-100 in a barn. Belonged to a older farmer that was trying to sell it for his sister. l bought it from him for a"firm" $1500.00 and no less... 😉 lt had 30,900 original miles on it. Kind of a odd one though. lt has a 360 V-8 but a 3 speed column shift. Also has a dealer add-on A/C that still blows cold air. And has the original lightning gear logo on the floor mat. Since it was a spur of the moment buy, all we had to secure it with was some ratchet straps. we eased in to the next town and bought some chains and boomers.5 points

Five years ago the frame was getting soft where the front tire throws dirt into a cleverly located hole in frame and the cab mounts were getting bad. located a donor truck for a frame and found a NOS crate motor on KIJIJI. Fixed cab mounts on both cab and frame , fuel ,brake lines, all the stuff that makes driving old trucks a pita. This time I painted it with Home Hardware Beautitone cause I am cheeeeaapppp. it stuck good but faded. I have no plans to retire it ,4 points

Hydro 70. Spent countless hours on it paired up with a JD 466 baler. Awesome combination. Here it is the day of my father's auction in 2007. Dad bought it new in 1976. It never had the "Hydro" decal on it. We never had a name for it but the guy that bought it at the auction is the son of one of my father’s friends. They call it Butch, named after my father.4 points

Lots of great tractors! I love it! Many of you have said it's hard to choose just one, I kinda have the same thing, depends on what your doing. I have all but one of my dads tractors which is special as well, including the only one he bought new (Genie) one of our 1486's. Really love Genie, Jamie, Lulu, Ethel, Cruella, Ruthie, Priscilla, Joanie, Scotti Ann, Terri Lynn, Holly Jo and Patsy but Bobbi Ann is still the favorite.4 points

72 F100 my grandparents bought new from the local Ford dealer's show room floor. Was ordered by someone who backed out when it arrived. 302, C4, 3.25 rear axle, ps manual drum brakes. Dad bought it from grandparents and used it for 5 years or so and I bought it from him when I was 16. Picture from shortly after I bought it from dad. Current engine iirc was originally out of a van. Still have the truck but no current pic.3 points

My 97 GMC 1500 half ton will always be the most special, it had belonged to my grandfather (technically a business truck, so really belonged to my father at that point). I would have happily given it up to keep him, but that isn’t the way the world works, so I got to keep a little part of him with me everywhere i went, put 210K miles on it, always plagued with electrical issues. 97’ 1500, 4.3, 5 speed. my favorite based on being exactly what I wanted was my 07’ 2500 HD classic, 6.0,4L80E, regular cab. Had dual zone climate control, the LT seats in a WT with rubber floors and crank windows, i put American Racing AR23 16” wheels on it which brought the tires out to match the factory flares. Looked good not over done. It was red of course. I really would like another like it. My current 2500 which matches similar specs doesn’t perform nearly as well. Looked about like this only had trailer mirrors3 points
