  1. January 24, 2023 Journal Entry by Emily Leinenbach — 4 minutes ago Today’s breathing trial was the longest by a long shot. 2 1/2 hours and then later in the day another 50 minutes. He seems to have more neck strength today too. We started another round of IVIG today, first dose is finishing up now. We are so thankful for the progress today. We are grateful for the support we have, the family and friends who selflessly step in. We are thankful for the kids’ resilience and tenacity. We are thankful for the invested staff here. We continue to pray for Zach’s recovery. We pray for independent breathing and restoration of reflexes and muscle function to support and accelerate that. We pray for full body nerve regeneration, full functional movement, complete healing at sonic speed. We pray for physical and mental strength.

  2. I too am pretty new to RP forums, although I have been reading them for years. I'm an auto dealership master tech and shop foreman/new tech trainer. I live with my wife on the farm my great grandparents homesteaded in the 1890s. I don't farm and the land is all rented out. I still have the 1952 M that my grandfather bought new. It's a straight M with disc brakes. He traded in an H because he had acquired another quarter of land to farm. He started farming with a Waterloo Boy. That was the tractor that made him an IH man, although he did have an 8N at one time. I also have 2 other working Ms, one with a Du-All loader. Then I have a Hydro 70 with a D312 and a Du-All loader. I have (if I'm remembering them all) 7 cub cadets from a 70 through a 129. I have a 48 KB5, 3 IH pickups from the mid 60s. A half ton short box, a 3/4 ton with a hoist under the box and a 3/4 ton 4x4. I think that about takes care of my IH equipment, other than some miscellaneous implements and parts tractors. Besides that I mostly have old Chevrolets, including the 56 short box I bought right after I graduated HS in 87.

  4. I’ve only been here since beginning of January and was a little worried about posting but everyone on here has been fantastic and I enjoy talking IH every minute I can. My family has been die hard IH for four generations and it’s great to talk to others who are just as nuts about red and rust as me haha

  6. Ever been hit with a fist? Funny how a 4 lb fist can feel like 200 lbs of hit. I have no charts, just real world experience.

  11. Not a bot here. Been hanging around for a while though. Glad I found this. Had a 4020 for a while when we just ran cows. Started in on farming a little and got a 5288 that we’re actually looking to sell. Just picked up a 966. Might be my new favorite.

  14. Wish I had a pic of the Cub Cadet hooked to the stuck UPS truck. Was enough to get him onto the area I hit with the blower. What a sight it may have been, strapped to the top of the weight bracket on back, chained up, had enough traction to lift the front tires, blower and all. 😎

  15. I like to plow with my old Iron. I still need more practice on filling in the dead furrow and plowing ends. It definatly is a really cool art to know.

  17. Kid at work brought in a grip strength tester. He tried to get the sasquatch to try it. Sasquatch said it didn't matter what his grip strength was, it only matters if you can take a punch. He may have missed the point, but when the sasquatch punches something, it stays punched.

  20. It’s kinda funny that I’m around and using horses on a fairly regular basis but I don’t have very many pictures. Here is one of my dad’s team, Grumpy and Snap. They are full sisters one year apart. We still feed with them. On this day he was using his unroller. It just sticks into the center of each side of a round bale and unrolls it. It’s nice when it’s cold because nothing has to start other than the mares.

  21. Funny story: Back at Eastern all of the new hire pilots would have an engineer ticket and be assigned the third crew member on the 727s. All of our 727-200 and many of our -100 had electric clocks in the engineer's panel but the QC (quick change) versions, the ones with the cargo doors, were not. A newbi wrote up the clock in a QC as in-op. The mechanic's sign-off was precious: Wound clock, repeat in 8 days.

  22. Some neat pictures to me figure some would like them, b&w taken after 1909 as the barn is in it. My great great grandparents in the picture as well as the orchard! Second one is same barn in 2022

  23. Well this is great, not entirely why I started this thread but has turned into an opening for many of our newer members to introduce themselves and their interests, welcome to you all 😊 this has provided a great opportunity!! I guess I was finding the bot replies suspicious and seemingly sudden, one was identified there was another similar response in the school shooting thread, hope that doesn't become a common occurrence.

  25. Finally got it split. Did not want to come apart. First split I did was between the transfer case and the speed transmission. Rolled back maybe 1/2 inch and that was it. Everything looked level and the dowel were reasonably free to turn so did not appear to be an alignment issue. I ended up going through the starter hole and unbolting the pressure plate from the flywheel. The pilot bearing had pulled out of the flywheel but would not come off the TA shaft. Ended up using a two jaw puller to get the bearing off the shaft. Clutch has good lining on it yet but was warped thanks to the hired help slipping the clutch. Splines gone in the pressure plated and IPTO input shaft. The 3 bolts that hold the throw out bearing carrier were quite loose for some reason. Not sure but would guess maybe the bolts came loose and that allowed the shaft to start working in the pressure plate. Makes no difference as it will be replaced. Pulled the range transmission shift cover to inspect the park lock. The gear looks good with no missing teeth. Some wear on the park lock lever. Thinking there was enough dirt build up in there that it would not allow the park lever to drop all the way down. Have a new spring and lever to put in. The clip was gone that holds the detent levers in place for hi-lo and reverse so that all fell apart as I pulled the cover up. Glad I was not doing this inside the cab as I was watching and was able to catch the detent rollers and levers before they went to the bottom of the case. Speed transmission shift cover will get updated to what the 6x88's used which was a needle bearing where the lever goes though the case. It has a lot of side play as it is. Need to do some more investigating on the pinion shaft. I suspect the pinion bearing probably has issues. It maybe due to the nut is a little loose. The lock is still in place so I am betting the bearing is wore enough that it is showing up at the nut. Time will tell what the ring gear and pinion look like. I left it with the oil draining out of the transfer case. Probably will be the first thing I tackle in the morning. The uni-ball's are loose and the seals all leak a small amount so it needs some TLC. Anyway some pictures to keep everyone happy.

  26. Not sure yet she still moved when we backed her back in the shed just was kind of a bear cause it wouldn’t track straight and had to be drug around with our 5288 to straighten it every 10 feet haha. Here’s the donor we’re taking the finals off of. It’s another TD9 with a complete motor and would part the rest out if someone needs parts or odds and ends

  37. Got around 10-12 inches yesterday lost power got another 4” coming Wednesday night then change to rain the forecast says. We lost power Monday morning with the forecast it won’t be on last Nh when it comes on hoping for some sun to get the trees to drop some of the snow. My trip to work Monday morning got stranded on the road till I cut my way home in the Am and that road is still closed had to drive 25 miles around to get to work yesterday. The pictures of the trees in the dark were going to work Monday morning had to turn around because of a tree blocking the road to come back to one a half mile behind me blocking the road that I cut up to get home it was not nice listening to them fall down around me before I got out. The pictures in the light are my way to work yesterday morning lots of trees bent

  38. Back in the late '80s, I helped a local farmer with field work for some extra cash. I'd told him I used to run a tractor back in the day. So after he lost a hired man, he called to see if I'd do some plowing for him. He put me in a 4440 with a Deere 5 bottom vari-width plow said have at it. No problem - I'd run Dad's 4440 enough to know my way around a Quad Range. I laid off a land and started going around. He stopped me at the end of the field to tell me he was surprised that I actually knew how to do that. Said most guys he tried talked big but didn't know how to deliver.

  39. I started plowing when I was about 8 or 9 on a John Deere B with 2-16 trip plow. Dad had to activate the trip because I couldn't pull the rope with enough force to activate it. That would have been in 61 or 62. The SMTA had an IH 3-16 little genie plow. The little genie didn't have a lot of clearance for trash. With the 706 came an IH pull type 4-16. What a difference! Lots of clearance and trip bottoms. No more having the plow unhook when you hit a rock. The 966 had an IH 3-point semi-mount 5-16. That was really the bomb! Made plowing dead furrows a breeze. The 966 really needed a 5-18 in our ground. Lot's of changes since I left for the military in 75. Now I plow gardens and food plots. I have moved from plowing with the 332 and the 12" Brinley to plowing with the 244 and the 12" Howse to the 790 and it's John Deere 2-14". Bill

  42. One dark night years ago I was driving through the field to the junkyard to fetch some parts, I can’t remember exactly what I was driving but I think it was a scrap 2000s Chevy Impala/Buick Century type of car, I rounded a bend and there were a few raccoons on the road, seemingly stunned by the headlights I promptly accelerated and took out four of them, most successful vehicular varmint kill I have had

  43. Im not ashamed of needing towed out, this driveway becomes an ice sheet and has a double fall line, when i pushed into the pile it slid sideways, any maneuvers to get out kept sliding down farther. anyone who has ever plowed snow and hasn’t had this happen hasn’t plowed snow. what separates good drivers from bad is knowing when to stop and not break something.
