  1. I find that working with livestock or machinery requires a good strong vocabulary of curse words to retain my sanity. I might even invent a few new ones. But in polite company you'll never hear it from me.

  2. This is not new news, the transaction was official October of 2018, but McLaughlin Body, formerly of Moline with a satelite plant in East Moline was renting space in the old FARMALL Plant in it's Quad-City Industrial Mall stage of existence. But effective October 2018 McLaughlin Body BOUGHT the last 550,000 square feet of remaining manufacturing space. Those familiar with the plant, that's everything left at the west end of the plant. Until I stumbled onto the story yesterday afternoon I had heard nothing about this. McLaughlin makes cabs, they made cabs for FARMALL, I remember truck loads of CO-190 cabs and their Diamond T clones sitting in their yard in Moline across from Consumer's ready to leave town. And anybody that's spent time in a green combine has been in a McLaughlin cab. Think they made cabs for Case construction equipment too. The idea of buying the old FARMALL Plant is to reinforce the idea the company is going to be located in the Quad-Cities for good. No more renting or leasing plant space so they can pack up and leave if they get a better offer. Most of the rest of the plant has been torn down. There's a picture looking under the railroad viaduct that you can see clear across the Sylvan Slough to Arsenal Island. It looks like the Motor Building, the 4-story building right next to the main gate on the east edge of the plant may still be standing, but not much left between that and the west end. Last time I actually snooped around there was about 2011-2012, that leveled area was filled with green/yellow corn planters. Jim Wagner, past FARMALL Plant manager would turn in his grave at that thought. His #2 man, Bob Dorigan would not like it either. ANYHOW, a search for "Quad-City Times FARMALL Plant sold" should get you a half hour of reading.

  4. My mandatory reading list for my kids has 1984 and Animal Farm, along with all the Louis Lamour books and Help Mom, There Are Liberals Under My Bed! I have been nice, I have tried hard, but I have recently quit. I don't wear a mask anywhere, I refer to transgenders as mentally unstable and I quit giving a damn about trying to rationally argue a point or change some nitwit liberal's mind.

  10. Sounds like a smart move . Bring it in by rail car rather than truck while they are at it. Fewer deliveries, less chance for problems.

  11. Unless I'm missing something you are replacing 4 tanks with one, replacing filling of 4 tanks to refill one, no lines in series, so one set of valves and fittings replaces 4 and all will be brand new, over the years we had a few 20 pounders blow from improper use, but never a large tank problem, for me this is win win.

  13. Guessing somewhere around 70-80 hours at this point. When we started, the tractor came in for a cab kit and lower seat cushion lol one thing led to another We have never done anything like this. Maybe a few cub cadets... There were other repairs that we wanted to do and removing certain panels helped facilitate the repairs. Got to a certain point and it's like, we just aswell. Learned alot, some things we will do differently on the next tractor.

  14. I would guess a flame sensor. Looks like a metal probe. They can get dirty and do funny things. Use a Brillo pad or steel wool and clean it up.

  15. There seems to be significant contradiction, but apparently POTUS has omitted Dr Seuss from the read across America campaign. Which is BS, no one, and i mean no one is more pro every child than old teddy geisel himself. These freaks are just looking to slander American heroes...(or german/American ones) furthermore, no one, and i mean no one has the constitutional right not to be offended. Period. they get no stars upon thars as far as i am concerned.

  16. I dont wear heavy coats, I prefer to layer , my old wool jacket/shirt was wearing through in the elbows, they don’t often have a large long in stock but I noticed this one a month or so ago at the general store, been walking by it and finally decided today was the day. It is a Johnson Woolen Mills jac/shirt as they call it and is relatively lightweight. I like made in us stuff and I really like made in VT stuff, this meets all the requirements. Sorry about the dog hair, eventually you give up and go with it.

Thank you BJ ! being I had the privilege of Danny here for the car show , thought better put him to work this is the first running on its own tank and fuel pump and all working , if you remember when we started engine first time it was being nursed by gravity feed , was hard to keep her running long enough . we timed it with light , carb set after warm up , and first time running out of her fuel tank in nearly 40 years . checked all voltages all seems good . It’s on electronic ignition and changed from positive ground to negative ground . now I need to mount generator and get her charging and engine will be complete . tony

  23. My point is everyone thats afraid of covid is quick to label a death from covid, but will just a quickly try to blame a vaccine death on something else. Once again showing their double standard
    3 points
  24. If a 77 year old with COPD, emphysema, and diabetes dies because covid pushed them over the limit, its labeled as a covid death. If someone dies because the vaccine pushed them over the limit, it's only fair to label it as a vaccine death. But I'm willing to bet the powers in charge will make sure its labelled as some underlying cause instead.

  30. I think the best evidence that the Chinese flu is a HOAX, is that the 'normal' flu season, and the deaths associated with it has totally disappeared from ANY mention by our 'friends' in the MEDIA. We should be fully aware that up until this past year, the MEDIA did NOT hesitate to 'report' on the dangers of the Hong Kong flu, Swine flu, avian flu, and this year, all these, and their variants seem to have magically went bye-bye, only to be replaced by the embellished, sensationalized 'reporting' on something 'new', and we all should know how the MEDIA loves to make up new 'names' for otherwise ordinary, but sometimes rare events, think Polar Vortex, Alberta Clipper, El Nino, El Nina, with the greatest stupidity of all, the 'naming' of winter storms, it's ALL about sensationalism. Which sounds better, to have some has-been actor, or sports figure die from old age, or add a little oooph to his/her passing by saying that the person died from the Chinese flu, or saying that the person died of Corona virus, WITH underlying conditions, such as heart failure, pneumonia, long term cancer, but as a certain politician once said, NEVER LET A CRISIS GO TO WASTE, a 'crisis' which has led to the establishment of a police state, a 'crisis' which has shut down business as usual, a 'crisis' in which the 'educational system' has all but disappeared, and a 'crisis' which has succeeded in making people afraid of their own shadow, ALL thanks to the MEDIA's LIES and sensationalist 'reporting'. Lies which not only emanate from their own imagination, but from the ever changing 'facts' coming out of the mouth of good ol' Dr. Fraudci.

  34. Not sure about the safety aspects of it but I’m glad to see a long-standing business win against the arguments of people who moved in or built years after the business was established. Some of our sale barns can only have a certain number of sales a year because a neighborhood would pop up around the sale barn and they have to suffer because some idiot wants to build next door then complain about the smell

  36. If it has a draft inducer motor and a PVC vent pipe, chances are it is the flame sensor. You can find that on the opposite end of where the igniter is. Usually a quarter inch or 5/16 not driver to remove, sandpaper as clean as you can get it, reinstall. If the flame stays on longer than five seconds it is probably a pressure switch or another issue

  45. Why? Because then you can pull and reinstall the spool without pulling entire unit. If it is broken spool will come right out the top and you reinstall right up through the bottom. No mess, no draining fluid, no lifting, carrying, removal of the heavy unit when you don't have too. That's why.

  47. My first boss told me a tale from when had a trucking business. He said he was loading sows for the small church pastor into a straight truck. Those old sows had never seen a loading chute and were not cooperative. A bucket was used to back sows up the chute and it was working until it didn't. Old boss said one of them with a bucket over head charged forward sticking him on top and through a wood fence. He said I cussed and yelled everything I knew. The preacher said I have never heard such language. Boss man said well preacher you never road a sow backwards down and through a loading chute.

  48. This was last nights baby. Somehow I got lucky through all the cold and snow we’ve had the last 2 weeks with only one calved before the big snow. I knew what was coming and kept an eye on her. Threw him in my pickup to get warm and turned him out in the world. How did I get so lucky. I heard rumor that a neighbor lost 20 with the weather. This is the only one I had to worry about in the cold. We had a nice visit.

  49. I sure like the Q940 I adapted for use on my 656. Big step up from the Dual 340 I had on my last 656. My only kick with my set up is the loader is rated at 2535 psi and I'm only getting 2200 out of my PTO pump and 3 spool valve. I don't have the lifting capacity the loader is capable of but then again I am easier on the 656 front end
