  1. Me and my wife recently purchased our first house this summer. Well with that I can finally move my stuff out of my moms house! This includes my 1/16 scale tractor collection. My wife is a city girl so she gets a kick out of anything tractor related! The plan is in the works in the next year or 2 is to build a garage big enough to store the real tractors at home, the 656 and 244! Anyway spend last night carefully washing the years of dust off them. This morning placing them on the shelves. Scott

  2. This 3.26 acre adjoins our property. Up until 2009 I had it fenced for horses and kept it nice. Property sold and I couldn’t meet the new owner’s demands so it grew up in saplings, trees, blackberry, honeysuckle, snakes, coyotes, and other creatures of the night. It has been a real eyesore but patience prevailed and I was able to purchase it this spring. The cleanup began and it’s been a process. Mow, push, pull, drag, burn, pick up limbs and chunks, and of course get stuck! It’s been disced a couple of times and today I walked it picking up anything that was too big for disc to cut thru or t

  3. Ok here's my take on this, its just like a muffler it disrupts the air flow so that way it doesn't travel as far. Even if there's just a slim chance of it working why would you not wear one. I don't want to wear one but I will if the establishment that I am going into ask me to or if I know I will be around my 80 yr old parents. I don't wear a mask for me I wear a mask for everyone else.

  4. For 35 years I worked in the oil industry. We used respirators (masks) often. Because of this I have taken every class that for respirator use that exists. Every year I had to wear a respirator and be hooked up to a machine that measured how effective certain masks were on me personally. Any paper or cloth respirators were actually forbidden in the facility I worked at because they had been proven to not be much better than no respirator at all. Now this was all to protect me from particle sizes much larger than a virus particle. Everything we are being told about the effectiveness of pa

  9. My son and I made the trek to Iowa on Friday and went to Jerry’s Wonderland on Saturday morning. I do NOT intend to take anything away from his collection and the countless hours of work he and his family have done to put together a FANTASTIC collage of IH History. But, the thing that hit me the hardest as I looked at all of the different examples of IH, literally catering to each customer with this special option here or this variety here—-no wonder they went under. They had their hands in everything! Heck, the blacktop chipper he has had a fuel pump on it the size of a small Volvo! i

  13. Our first loader tractor was a 1941 H under an F10 Farmhand. We parked it out of the wind on the East side of the barn. Had a tank heater on it to insure it started. We only cranked it as the starter and generator did not work well. It started easy if you blocked the clutch forward when it was about 30 below. Then let it run for a couple minutes to warm up a bit. Then let the clutch out slowly. The 90 weight in the transmission and the 30 weight in the loader was very stiff. It would almost kill the H as it pulled that hard. It took a few minutes of

  15. Made a new weight bracket for my diesel today. Old bracket held 10 weights with no retention.....they hopped and bounced on rough ground. (First 2 pics are old one.....) New bracket holds 12 weights, bracket is bolted to tractor frame, and weights were all drilled and tapped for 1/4" bolts to keep everything solid. Needs paint and weights could stand a touch up coat as well.

  17. Looks good. I think you should leave them there in the kitchen for storage 😊 Congrats on the new place. I keep a couple on top of the cabinets also. One green one like you. My uncle was a JD mechanic and got me that 5020 as a kid. It’s got a lot of hours on it...

  18. Because they fog up my glassed and i cant see clearly then. Also deflect air flow more than disrupt. Your still making a cloud of germs around your head, if any air flows from me to anyone via environmental conditions, ventilation systems, wind, other airflow, the point is moot imo. I suppose you could argue that mask catches SOME moisture from your breath, but not anywhere near all. So those thinking your gonna die without one, your exposed to a level even with one that you will still likely develop covid, thats my take anyway. Also there are studies documenting harmful effects from mask

  23. After an exhaustive investigation I feel confident to say the 544 Utility I recently bought is in fact a Gold Demonstrator. I've spoken to as many qualified Collectors and Historians that I could locate and each of them have independently verified that in their opinion the tractor is a legitimate Gold Demonstrator. The serial number is in the correct range and the underlying paint is the correct color and in all the right places. I want to sincerely thank Redpowermagazine.com for such a great site as well as everyone that has assisted me in determining the validity of the tractor but a fe

  26. For close to 20 years saw this red tractor sitting abandoned in this field. Had no idea what is was for a model other than it was a 66 series. Fast forward to couple weeks ago was on a service call. Different job & hadn’t been done this road in 4 years. Turns out service mgr is friends with county administration mgr. Was told I can have the tractor for free. With permission went & had a look at it. She is rough shape, no idea what I would with it. Going to cost $400 Cdn to get hauled to the farm. Close to 40 miles away, it’s too big for my trailer. Have decent sized hill

  33. Regardless of whether it's a new pic or a vintage, l think that pic of the M and dealer is still neat looking. But here is one that is the real deal. Pic of a 460 LP at the IH dealer in Slaton, Texas (about 15 miles SE of Lubbock) in 1963. This dealer also has the distinction of selling the first 806 on the south plains of Texas in late 1963. Here is a pic of it with a 6 row cotton planter in the spring of 1964. Although from a different nearby dealer, my Dad had the 2nd 806 on the Texas south plains..

  35. Cows have been gone from the family farm for about 40 years. The pasture land that was too rocky to mow/plant has completely overgrown with some pretty big trees. In New England outsiders often ask why we have rock walls in our forests. They can't seem to fathom those forests are all second growth from when the farms were abandoned for the better Midwest land.

  40. My opinion, (and worth no more than what you paid for it), to helping you make a rebuild or replace decision is: When you need this, you will want it to start on the first or second pull and run till you shut it off. Nothing worse than fighting with a motor when you should be fighting fire.
