  1. On this night...19 years ago, 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning tomorrow. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00 am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life

  2. It was 15 years ago today (9/10/05) and it was hot as blazes. Way to hot to be wearing a coat. And that was outside the church! Luckily cool beverages made the rounds soon after the "business" was handled. It was 85 degrees that day and it's 60 degrees today. This is what we looked like 4 kids, 2 farms, and a tornado ago.

  4. Those two outfits are owned separately by two friends who are in their low 20s. They don't usually bale together, as each have their own business. Last weekend they were baling together pretty much wrapping things up for the year. That's my old 1486 I owned from 1996-2018. He helps around here now and then, and also bales some hay for me usually using my Hydro 100. I'm pretty proud of those young guys. Both have good work ethics, which is kinda hard to find in today's younger generation

  8. Thanks for the birthday wishes, guys (and gals?). 68 hot lapse around the sun. It won't be the most exciting one, this year. Wife is doing very well, got the staples out, is doing some mild exercises for the shoulder, and wearing 2 different pair of colored glasses everyday. The conk on the head seems to have messed up her eyes, a little. Her pupils don't react to light as well as they should, and the doc says the (cardboard) glasses should solve it. Seems to be working. Physical therapy will get serious in a couple weeks. Only had "Red" out of the garage once, since I got the new tires,

  18. The first tractor I actually got to drive was a Farmall A cultivating while dad would be a few rows over on a 1949 H. I keep thinking I would like to restore a Farmall A some day. I have found many years ago the best thing on the TV is the off button. Some days I just go out to the shop and sit and look at my tractors or implements. Some of the old stuff I try to picture what it was like making a living using that and feeding a family of 3 or 4 kids. I am now 71 years young. Some days I like to take a very long slow walk around a field and take the time to watch the wildlife.

  24. Excuse my arrogance but it is a little disconcerting to me to have commonality with a third world country. We should be, need to be better than that. We need to be in a position to help these countries not lower ourselves to their level. There was a POTUS one time that went around the world on an "apology tour" . People with this vision for our country need to be removed from office. (Ian, not picking on your quote, lot of bad goings on in this country right now)

  25. Update on equipment, I heard yesterday that they had recovered all of the tractors and other equipment. One mower was parked in the woods at the golf course and the thieves drove the rest of it down a dead end field road in the river bottoms. So i assume it was local druggies, if i t would have been my call i would have let it all sit there and waited for them to come back. Maybe they sobbered up and had second thoughts ,hard to say. I heard from a reliable source that they completely trashed the house, dumped out all the drawers emptied the fridge and left a blood trail throughout, hoping the

Funny: My dog used to shy away when I bent to pet him because he got tired of getting hit by my phone sliding out of my pocket. Dog thoughts: "Dumb $hit is gonna drop his phone on me again".

  35. In 2001 i was headed to the dealer for some combine parts ,when i got there the guy behind the counter was hysterical, he asked if i had heard what was going on and i had no idea. I left without any parts and headed straight home not knowing what might be next. What a shame it is, that it took such a tragedy to bring this country to it's knees, and i mean that literally . People went back to there churches hung up there flags and united like no time in my life. NOW look at it, how soon we forget and i suppose a lot are too young to remember.

  37. My couple IH tractors. I have a bunch of Implements as well, plus some old Willys Jeeps. I bought some fire craters for the M but haven't installed them yet. It runs perfect now, and the last time it was on the dynamometer it cranked out 54 horsepower, even running an 8777 head! I suspect someone beat me to opening it up and playing with the engine. It has skidded countless loads of ash logs, and does all my tillage (3 bottom Little Genius, 8' disc and IH harrow.) It has never not started. The A I just bought, the guy who had it broke the final drive housing about 15 years ago and

  40. I was pulling stumps for an older lady with a 2606 IH backhoe. A woman from a neighboring house was hysterical, yelling about how we were under attack. I got off the machine and walked her back home. I then went to my 1700 IH Loadstar (wish I still had that truck) and turned on the radio. After listening for a few minutes, I told the customer I had to go home. I packed up and left, to get home to my family. I remember wondering what was going to happen next, would we be under sustained attacks? It was pretty surreal the next few months as I remember. There were American flags flying ev

  42. Things like this are doing severe, and probably irreparable damage to the reputation of public health departments. From the onset of covid, common sense has been thrown out the window and many people have overstepped their bounds by miles. Thankfully, those in west central Nebraska have not been heavy handed like those in other areas but all the same it seems that these public health officials in general saw this as a green light to grab as much power as they could and see just how far they could push people. The local health departments need to go back to doing basic health screenings, food
