  3. YES! One of the least likely threads on RPF to get bogged down in pissing matches, disagressays, and oneupmanship.

  9. The first picture shows a “tub” Super W6. Looks original picture, as the second picture, the “frame rail” Super W6 appears to be altered. The buildings in the back ground, driver, plow look the same. The engine & front wheels are different. My favourite tractor, grew up around my late Grandfather’s SW6. Still have it today, it plows snow once & awhile.

  12. When the number series came out, the “W” was left off for 3 months which caused issues at the dealerships. Owners would call in & say I got a 400. Which left part ordering a problem. Appears to same brochure, the W was drawn back. I have both real tractors in hedge row.

  17. I can relate to your "restored " tractor. Mine Super WD9 wasn't restored but I had to get a different head ,then the rear main started leaking. When I tore it down to fix the seal I found that clutch output shaft was welded to the coupler on the transmission. Tractor had a vibration in it caused by the shaft and coupler being crooked when welded. A little lathe work ,seals, all was good again. Then brake pinion started leaking and I had to split and install same parts as above. Then a year later it started knocking and I got to overhaul it. This all took place in about 5 years and I have been good to go since.

  18. I hope you don't mind a little hijack Dave.(from out conversations I think you wouldn't mind)maybe it will keep your thread alive until you get back I bought mine at an auction from a fellow Chapter 20 member. I didn't see it until sale day and was disappointed in the '"restoration' only got to hear it run and it had 4 new tires on it ( rears radials)and I got it for $700 less than he was asking for it a few months earlier. The rearend is not from the "restored' after I found it to have only a gallon or 2 of oil in it and it was noisey . The clutch /input shaft was wornout and the trans input coupling was loose and tore the front transmission seal completely out. Stripped down a parts W9 for tub, front axle and transmission/rearend. When fixing brake seal found bad bearing. All seals were changed in this tractor and I put a gas head on the first engine off the second tractor ( huge dollars to rebuild) The first pic is the day it arrived, the second is the day it left and third for the most part as it appears currently I don't want any tractor that leaks and is not 100% mechanically sound so all the work doesn't bother me even thought is was restored. BUT at a Chapter 20 auction I bought a WD9 toy and the former owner walked past and said he would have run up the price on it because I got his W9 too cheap ? I used his short block, 4 tires, muffler., seat, steering wheel, and gauges parts NFG on 'RESTORED' tractor - , trans/rearend,front axle, fenders, hood, grille ( all full of bondo) radiator, steering box, to mention a few Once again sorry Dave, I hope this adds to your thread. I should have bought the one you offered me that year
