Van Wert, Ohio plow day

Recommended Posts

I hear ya on the bummed out part, Mark. Pretty depressing year around here also. I had some wheat contracted for $6.00 and by the time they docked for the high moisture, low test weight and high vomitoxin, I netted $3.35. We were a month late in getting it harvested and the yield was about half what it should have been. Oh well. Next year's gonna be better. Right???

John, I'm reminded that I should always be thankful.

I have friends that have had a lot rougher year than just some poor crops.

Hey, next year will really be something special.

Time for some more plow day pictures.

We get all sizes of tractors and plows,

Old ones with old 1 bottoms...

post-43251-0-78239100-1438356306_thumb.j

as well as newer tractors with foreign plows made for competition...

garden tractors are more popular than I thought, some years we'll have quite a few of them...

FarmallFan; From the looks of your picture and the way the trailer is loaded, you better get more weight on the back axle of your truck. I wouldn't drive it down the road the way it is now. You might do an unintended doughnut. LE

Actually that pic is from my arrival. I drove very slowly to get there, but made it without incident. On the return trip the weight was better distributed.

Plow day is next Saturday!!!

We went over to the field yesterday and did a little digging to see what kind of shape it is in.

Plenty of moisture under the wheat straw, drying slow enough that I don't think it will get real hard.

All the necessary arraignments have been taken care of.

Just need the weather to cooperate and the forecast sounds good.

Wow it will be GREAT having you guys there. I'm sure Red Bibs Bill and the 2+2 will be the "Stars of the Show". At least in my book anyway. :)

It's Wednesday, August 12th and plow day is Saturday the 15th.

Wow time is going fast and much to do.

Anyway...

I was told that Red Bibs Bill was leaving home this morning and staying at the Ohio river tonight.

If all goes as planned he will arrive tomorrow.

We got about 8 tenths of rain Sunday and Monday combined.

I expect it to plow very good by Saturday, and the weather forecast is excellent.

Need a picture...

Haven't heard anything from Red Bibs Bill, so I expect him to be arriving this afternoon.

For those that have asked about a video, I have made arrangements for that. We might even have a drone there.

I'll post it as soon as I can.

Tent goes up in morning and we will lay out the head lands tomorrow.

All this excitement... more pictures...
