The beans for the mile long field are all planted. Matt planted a few acres of wide row corn. the corn will be harvested with 2 different 234 pickers. One 234 will have a husker unit and the other a sheller unit. The corn will be shelled on site with an MM sheller. Photo of Matt planting the wide row corn.

Bob correct me if I'm wrong, but to my understanding first thing Saturday morning on the day of the tillage day we will get all the tractors and plows in the furrow together to see how long of a line we can make. So all participants will want to be there early to be ready to go for that. Following the lineup the tractors and plows will be split up according to their size to allow them to plow till lunch and the chapter meeting. As in years past there will be plenty of land for the Cubs and Cub Cadets to work with out having to compete with the bigger tractors.

In the afternoon Marty and Matt plan on cutting beans .

As well as picking corn. Those who want to continue plowing and working ground are more then welcomed to head back to the furrow.

About the Minneapolis Moline corn sheller,, Martie's dad had a Model D sheller when Marty was a kid {as my family had one}. This past winter Marty and Matt acquired a decent old Model D and a parts Model D. Matt has been working on swapping out parts and fixing up the better of the two machines. It's first true test run May be this summer at the county fair.

Ladies and Gentlemen, as we all know nothing compares to the Half Century of Progress.... Believe me Gatewood and the Thieme families as well as Chapter #7 don't even want to try to compete with that show. But we do have planned a very enjoyable day of working ground for all that wish to come out. We do hope that the price of fuel doesn't prevent you from joining us.

Pat, your are correct, We will start lining up tractors around 8 am so we can be plowing by 9 am. we will again start with the newest and biggest, example the super 70s and 4X4 will be first followed by the 88 series then the 86 series then the 66 series then the 56 series then the 06 series the 60 series 400 series and the m's , h's, f series then cubs and then cub cadets, all in the same furrow. Just remember all IH tractors (including cub cadets), from the regular to the 1985 super 70s, Any make of plow is welcome.

The photo is of Old Max leading the way with the Super 70

Was by yesterday on my way to Crown Point. The tillage day grounds got a couple more rains and more of it then what we've gotten 23 miles to the north east. Looking forward to seeing all those International Harvester Tractors march across the field...

Oh, you see that head land that runs parallel with the edge of the woods. we need that many more tractors and plows then what we had in 2008.
