Well looks like I have the summer off. Kinda saw this one coming, with the early spring and all but man this really stinks! At least we do have insurance this year, two years ago we didn't and that made it real fun! At least we learned from it. Now what can I restore with my free time.....

My niece's husband's family owns the largest commercial apple orchard in Indiana. They think they have lost their entire crop. At least they have insurance as well.

A balmy 36 here in Spokane this morning. Orchard 6, use to spend lots of summer time along the west side of MI, Manistee in particular. Have friends with a place near Traverse City, Torch Lake. Anywhere close to you?

I really feel for all of you raising fruit. Must be an awful feeling getting up in the morning and seeing temps like that. Hope the insurance carries you through. It's been a tough year so far, most of the maple producers around me only got 1/4 to 1/3 of normal production. Wonder what the rest of the year holds in store.........

Traverse City is about 90 miles north of us brady boy. We camp up there at the state park for a week in july. There is also a large tractor show in buckley, bout 10 miles south of t.c. the third week in August.

Yeah sometimes I wish we were a little more deversified, we kinda got all our eggs in one basket just growing apples.

Its been crazy here in MI, I live 1/2 way between Grand Rapids and lansing. We had 90 degree days in early march, in April we have had multiple freezes every week!! I just put in 50acres of corn yesterday, soil temps are still on the low side but it looks like this coming week will finally bring in some normal temps.

I wouldn't farmwithout crop insurance, glad to hear you guys have it but it really sucks when you need to use it, that means no profits for this year but at least you will still be in business to grow again next year!
