last night at the tractor pull?

10 posts in this topic

I went to the county tractor pull last night. They had the hot stock class, the 3000 rpm limit class, and the out of field farm stock class. A couple of times when the guys got to the end and were done pulling, unhooking the chain, I smell ether. Whats going on there? Are they hitting a button and injecting ether while going down the track? I do a little pulling once in a while but have never tried this before. Have they gotten that competitive now in this class too? Looking for some insight.

Yes that's probably what some of them are doing  there's alway's some idiots that can't do it the way it's suppose to be done. That's been going on for as long as i can remember. Ive never seen where they gain that much from doing that.

I've always wondered if the ether button could gain you a couple feet. but with as explosive as that stuff is, and as pricey as engines are, i have never tried it... Oh, and almost EVERY rule book says one fuel only.

Stupidity? I don't think there was a need for it, most shut down after the run anyways.

I remember this at a couple of pulls back in the early eighties and the word was that guys would dump a can of starting fluid in their fuel tank.

I have heard of propane injection on a diesel before but never using ether! Sounds like mechanical suicide to me!

Just man up and put the nitrous to it! It will keep the charger lit and cool the egt's. The sled's run sniffers around here to make sure everyone is running fuel only.

I have seen a guy stand at the starting line and spray either into the charger as the tractor was coming up and kept spraying as the tractor passed him, seemed to help bring the rrr's up lol, on the flip side I watched the same guy run his father over when he was spraying either into it to start it and the tractor was in gear, fired right off, and drove over him.

Sounds like improving the gene pool skipped a generation??:blink:
