Just another truck designation question for you guys, whats the i and ix designation in the 9000 series trucks? also whats the difference between the 9200 the 9400 and 9900? only difference I can tell is the 9400 is a little more "aero" than the others. One more question , The "eagle" designation is a trim package I assume? Just curious . I am the type of person when I become interested in somthing I need to know as much as I can about it!! My wife says I have a problem!!!!!!

9000 series is a little new for me but im positive the cabs are all the same, it is most likely something to do with final drive, single axle twin screw, and im unsure if they had tag axles in them, but ill assume they did, and eagle is a trim package

9200 and 9400 are areo hoods but they are shaped a little different. 9400s usually have the big block engines. 9900 is a square hood conventional. I believe the i is a later generation ( we have a '95 9200 and a '04 9200i). Only the 9900ix is availiable which is just a longer hood.

The i models seem to be basically an upgrade to earlier models, just as many earlier trucks became A's and B's as they were facelifted, no great significance to the i that I am aware of.

The 9300 was the square hood conventinal that became the 9900i in about 2000.

The 9400 was the first aero-nose conventional built from the 9300. This was followed by the 9200 which had a shorter hood for a shorter overall length and better maneuverability and a 9100 as well.

One guy I drove for had 3 9400s I dont remember if they were "i"s. 2 were '04s 1 was a '06. All three had C15 cats 2 550's, 1 475 My 04  and the 06 both had the eagle interiors, the only deference I saw was the eagle included 2 base cabinets in the sleeper. And the truck with the base interior was only one with leather seats <_< The 9900 has the longer hood. I also heard a rumor that the new pro-star is going to replace the 9400's

The "i" models are easy to spot. The 'i" do not have window vents and the windshields are curved vs flat . The 9200i and 9400i's were replaced by the Prostar series. The 9900i is to be replaced in 2013. Merton
