Harvestmore Bean Heads

6 posts in this topic

I am concidering a Harvestmore head (25') for My combine (MF) . I do not have and can't get a Field Tracker for my Machine. I am wondering how they work, and how they are holding up?

Any information would Be appreciated. I remember some comments awhile ago about these heads, but couldn't find them.

Thanks

Joe

Have a 725 that was in the first 8 or so built that will be on it's fourth season this fall with almost no problems. Have replaced the auger drive chain a couple times and it will get a new sickle and guards before going to the field. We did find a couple of small cracks in the frame during the second season but I called John and over the phone we made some changes to the design to prevent it from happening on new models. John has provided us a couple of updates free of charge and he plans to continue that so the first one built will be kept up to the same design as the last one. The auger mounts were updated and they have a new sickle drive setup we'll be getting for this year. I had a question about changing the auger mounts this summer so I called them and John was out of the shop so I got to talk to another guy who happened to be the guy who welded our head together, it's nice to get technical help from somebody who actually knows what they are talking about instead of what most companies have. If we trade combines, either to a bigger machine or another color at this point there would have to be a huge cost difference for us to consider anything other than another Harvestmore.

I like the way they tip the cutter bar down at a slight angle, this helps it cut close while leaving the pan lay a little flatter than oem heads. You would think Case IH and others would do this. They also run the auger slower and don't have fingers in the middle. (less shelling of pods and bean loss) I think they come with the orbit reel also if you want. Already had my new 25' head ordered from Case IH when I saw the Harvestmore at Louisville last winter. It had everything on it the way I really wanted the new one to be. You can also get the sickle of your choice, Crary golden cut, SCH ... etc.

We don't have one of their heads but have gotten parts from them for our 820. Very good guys to deal with. We actually got our parts a day ahead of schedule. That doesn't happen very often.

I already talked to John a bit, about the heads. He told me it would be 1St of October before I could get one for my combine. He also said he prefers the Ih std. 3' knife system.

I am just wanting some feedback from some people who have run them. I only have seen them on their website, (which dosen't give a lot of info on them).

How is it in stony ground? Is their enough adj to the knife angle to ride over small stones?

Thanks for the Responses

I am leanning towards getting one

Joe
