Great Looking 403 IH Hydro Combine On Ebay

12 posts in this topic

good old combine but the sickle drive mechanism was oblsolete 20 yrs ago. I had a 403 and had the machine shop improvise the mechanism on the sickle drive as parts were retired then.

They were a good machine though.

I have a stupid question. What is the purpose of the high rise radiator intake behind the rotary screen? Shouldn't it have either/or one or the other?? Before I bought the 615 I have, I actually wanted a 403, but they are a non-existant animal in this part of the world.

The other screen is for the hyd oil cooler, on those it's seperate from the radiator with it's own fan and screen.

Did they make a 403 with a diesel in it? Seems kinda small for one.

Guys, this ones too far away for me and is way too far away for Bill.. :) I know of a nice 403 gas hydro in a shed 200 miles away.I looked at it a couple of Saturdays ago.

Tony,they did make a 403 diesel.It had the D-301.

I may have a good combine story to tell in a couple of weeks if things go as planned.

There is a guy that owns my grandpa's old 403. It's super worn out, but he said he got it running recently and sold it...but it hasn't moved for about a year so i am thinking that fell through. That old combine has seen a lot of acres. My grandfather combined around 500 acres of his own, and combined many of his neighbors fields for about 10 years. He then bought a 915, but the guy who bought it used it for about another 15 years. The old joke is that guy "Orion" would always have a dent in his head at the begining of the harvest season. If you asked him why, he would say "my combine", as he patched the insides of that thing every year. The cool thing is the serial number on my grandpa's 806D is 662, and his old 403's is 6662. I hope the combine is still there my senior year, as i would like to restore it for my last year in 4-H.

Very nice 403 there. Worth the $500 it is bringing right now.

I see none other than our very own farmertony purchased the machine... was I not supposed to say that? Fantastic it went to a GREAT home (match them 8010's well, probably would be close to keeping up too!!) but I can't see pictures of it, I just get the red x's.

Nice to see they are being saved by someone at least once in a while. God bless fellers like Blaine.
