The cast housing is the stock 706-1486 transmission housing.   It is milled out to take a twin countershaft 5 speed transmission.     The 5 speed is a stand alone aluminum case transmission built for pull tractors.

That is what happened to all our old ihc tractors up here. 15 years ago they were getting bought going east  up for puller parts.  I see now the top piece  added. Nice to see your puller projects again gonzo.

Dumb question but what do you use for a starter?

Must be a short one!

If you are using a front mount starter make sure you check inside the housing where the starter goes for clearance. Starter gear probably will hit the housing and not go very far into the flywheel gear unless you grind it out.

The rear engine plate is milled to fit a powerstroke starter.   Steel flywheel is machined for a front ring gear..

Spent last weekend at Gordyville still amazed at how this sport has progressed and the amazing fabrication that goes into today's pullers.

Do you still run the range tranny behind or is it direct to pinion

Direct to the pinion The new transmission has its own reverse gear.

Looks nice. Can you switch gears our for different gear ratios fairly easy? Is 5th gear in that one direct or overdrive?

4th and 5th are overdrive.   5th is about 20% over.  The trans has to be removed and taken apart to change ratios.   But that is not too hard.

The plan is to use my 5088 hood on it..      I have a fiberglass 1066 hood, but everyone has a 1066 puller.

I think that's a perfect use for that Ol gal.  Feel bad for her sitting there.😊

This project can cleanse the shop and tools a bit after the long running green project.  Also i think red will highlight the quality of the work you do better than the other color.

Hey gonzo, if it's not to much trouble can you start a build thread so we can watch the deal?   I would really enjoy seeing it, and maybe others would to?

thank you
