Flushing and replacing transmission fluids - Clark CL-455-20 Transmission

Recommended Posts

I ordered my service manuals but until then I want to flush and replace the transmission fluid. Can someone explain how to check levels and how to fill the transmission fluids?

Here is a PDF of the transmission with labels and numbers

I don't see a window, dipstick or filler cap, please advise

Thanks

Usually a level plug halfway up the side, fill to overflow.

Do I fill it using the same plug on the side?

Yep, just pump until a bit squirts back out.

No, its down lower on the side of the transmission.

There are only some bolts for the cover on the side and what looks to be a drain plug. Looks the same on the other side

There are several pictures on the pdf file but I think figure 13 shows it the best - the filler is on the transmission case side just above the horizontal case reinforcement bars and below the two case connection boss holes.  And the drain is just below the horizontal trans case reinforcement webbing (don't remember what they call those trans case reinforcement web bars).  And on page B near the beginning of the pdf file is a diagram that shows where to find the fill and drain plugs and where the diagram states "Tighten drain and filler plug 30 to 40 lbs, ft. . . . "

Hope this helps - happy TG day.
