Tax deductible tractor donation?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

my friend told me he got a tractor from a guy and all he wanted was a tax deductible paper instead of money. Is this true? If so how does this work?

I would think it would only be deductible if donated to a non profit organization like FFA or 4H.

You have to be a non profit like jass1660 said. So a farmer should be ok! ( just kidding)😐

Yes, I hope the "donor" doesn't have his heart set on the deduction, because unless your friend is a 501(c)(3) organization, he cannot legally provide such a receipt.

He would have to donate it to an FFA, 4H, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Vietnam Veterans of America, Cars4Kids, the NFL, etc..

Matt, the "donor " can take the deduction if he so  desires. He just  better  hope  the IRS doesn't  audit his return.
