12V cab heater

Recommended Posts

Got the 1840 in the shop for some TLC and aftermarket heater hasn`t made heat since I bought SS.

Yes, I have power to it as fan runs on all speeds but element is dead.

It`s a 300W chinese one.

Any suggestions as to what size/brand would be good?

This one is mounted on the rear dash off to one side.

JEGS has a standard aftermarket, just like we once used when heaters were an option in low end pickups for under $200.

I put one in a junk Taurus because I refused to tear the whole dash out to replace the stock heater core.  Only issue was I did not get the defroster kit.

Ours came from J.C. Whitney, the champion of keeping old iron going and magic elixirs .

I believe that was the standard heater for most International road vehicles in the 50's.

Thanks gentlemen.

Didn`t wanna plumb coolant lines/valves etc. cause I`m lazy but...

I did do some research on these heaters and a company called DC Thermal kept coming up.

The chinese ones have around 1000 BTUs for $80 to $100.

This one comes in at $180 to my door and has 6000 BTUs. They also have a 4000 BTU model but only $15 less so...

American made too! SA12-3000 model.

x2 plus strong batteries. put a 12v heater in the cab of a Psystar. worked well had a 50a fuse. would drive you out with the windows open

If it will heat a hay rack, that is enough BTU's for me

This model uses a 30A fuse. The 5000 needs 50A.
