I think the wife should have a Pulling Tractor, look at that technique!

Mine will drive the grain cart as needed.  Shuts the two way  off so I can't tell her what to do.

Not as much as in the past but Smoker 2 only runs the combine and I then run the cart.  This year she only ran it one day.  Says she has too many wife duties!

Got done last night just before the rain over night.  For starting as early as we did this year, it sure felt like a long drawn out harvest!

Have enjoyed looking at all the pics posted also.

Caption to 1st photo 'The last time'

Every year when I sweep up after the first load I think to myself, I wonder when the last load will be? How will the weather be for rest of harvest? Will I have to dry all the corn? Hope the equipment doesn't have any breakdowns, Hope it isn't  muddy......

Well tonight I have the answer to all of them, it's 10:00pm Nov 12th 2017. Always a good feeling when you finish.   cover is back on pit.👍

Last round of the season, waiting for the pivot to move out of the way, was last Friday 11-24.  Been chopping stalks since then.  What a terribly muddy harvest this has been.  We mudded the crop in then got to mud it out!

What type of guidance do you have set up in your 856?

EZ-500 light bar, I swap the light bar and antennae between all of the tractors, the 5488 has EZ-Steer installed so when the light bar is in it I have auto steer.

Here it is running a couple years ago.

Last weekend working in corn stalks with my new to me MRX690 5 leg disc ripper.  I put new 7 inch points on it and ran a little over 11 inches deep.  I found a lot of hard ground down there even my pure sand spots it just shook the tractor and brought up chunks of hard pan.

I was running in Medium 3rd gear, handled it real well, 4th gear was too much.  you can see in this video I grab 4th gear and then run into my good ole red clay vein that runs across this farm.
