We had one of these laying round. I always wondered what it's original purpose was. I was pretty small when we chopped hay and blew it in the mow. We did chop straw and both were miserable to fork out. Chopping shorter would have worked better. We use only one knife for oat straw and some years it was pretty long..

We had one in the barn's haymow.  Done with your foot on a little side thingie/step that you'd step upon, not like the one in the photo.  It used 3 or 4 blades off of a sicklebar.

best, randy

I believe this is part of an after market electric window regulator conversion for manual  window auto,   however, depending on how far you want to go you may need a longer cord.

No but since no one knows, Here are some clues.

A fuse goes in that little nipple on the bottom,

Blasting powder goes inside through the key hole on the right,

The reason these were painted bright colors was so you could find them after use.

It's 12 inches long.

Made in Pa.

This is used for to separate Milk from the cream. Usually you waited for 12 hours and you scooped the cream of the top or you port out the milk.

this metal part helped to keep the cream in the pan.

That is correct, and I might add that it does a fine job doing so.

They were usually painted bright colors so you could find them after the explosion because it goes about 200 feet into the air .

We light it off on the forth of July a few times each year.

Very loud.

Either a chicken feeder or waterer. I'm leaning toward waterer.

waterer is close, it is used to cool cream or milk. the cream or the milk flows on the outside and the water is in the inside of the thing it works similar to a modern plate cooler Dairy farms have.

I could use that!   We just cleared a few trees out of a field.  Where did you get it?

U-C beat me to it.
