New to me 4186

Brought this old girl home tonight. Anyone with any tips or advice? I know the steering is something to be desired and don't want to hear to get rid of it. Thanks for the advice in advance.

At least ditch the external ROPS....makes those things look hideous, I'll take my chances without it.

It's pretty flat where we live also. That was in the list of things to do.

Yes, we have been using our 5088 for all tillage and planting. This will allow us to work ground right ahead of the planter now. Instead of possibly drying the ground out before the planter can get to it.  Very small farm here.

If you want and can find a weight bracket for the front of it I have the weights for it.  They are smaller 42 lb weights and 25 of them will fit under there.

Definitely a nice looking tractor, should have lots of fun with it!

I have the original owners manual and have been looking through it.

Sounds like a good plan. You will have to grab some pics when you get it out and work it.  Efficiency doesn't care what size your farm is, still have to get things done in a given time window. You just made that easier 😊

Nice tractor!    Wonder why the rops got painted black?    Dad has one.   Have been told to run transmission over full on oil and make sure it is shifting completely into gear.  Every one that I have seen has flame cut weights for the front.  The cast were on earlier models like 4100/4156 but will work.    Here is a few pics of dad's at work

Nice! I've actually been talking to my wife about these recently. I missed a 4166 a couple years ago. I've been on about a 2+2 for a while, but when these do pop up, they seem to be reasonable priced.

Very nice, looks real clean.  ROPS, if you dont have hills I'd think be fine to remove.  They do look nicer then.  Besides tires i see nothing not too like.  Does it have pto?  Hard to see on my phone.

Question...did 4x86 tractors ever have duals?  Any pics of one with em?

I've not seen duals, but I have seen them with modern lower profile, narrower tires so I'd bet someone somewhere has dualled them up, though the turning radius would have to be gigantic at that point.

Looks like a nice one, super clean. Spent many hours in a 4166. What size rubber is on it?
