What's Your Heritage?

Recommended Posts

On my fathers side,Dutch Mennonite and moved through northern Europe.A generation or 3 maybe lived in Russia. Started under Catherine the Great with great freedom of how to worship and not serve in the Russia Army.Freedoms started to slip away by the 1890's.

By 1896 they where in Nebraska. In 1897 Great grandfather checked out California. Must have moved the family in 97 as they had a grain crop planted for harvest in 1898 which was a record drought no grain to harvest.

My mothers father came before WW1 as a 17 year old and didn't know if he would stay in the US or maybe go back to Germany. He did not return to Germany until 1962,to visit his step sisters.
