  1. How long have had your current job?

    Oh, the 'Red River Wetbacks'
  2. How long have had your current job?

Almost forty four years at a window manufacturer. Currently a low level manager in Receiving/Warehouse.
  3. Penetrating Lubricant

I bought a 656 last fall and it hauled about 450 miles in December. The road grime got into the controls for the throttle, loader, and PTO. What's the best penetrating oil? I've been using PB Blaster. Is there anything better? Marv
  4. Parenting and farming with young kids?

I tried to do this for a while. I worked a full time job and farmed a bit on the side. When my son was diagnosed with autism about thirty six years ago, I had to cut back. We still live on our 160 acre farm, but the land is rented out and the barn is empty. Our son still lives with us. I still work full time, and my wife and I have dedicated ourselves to caring for him and each other. God is good!
  5. What's the age difference between you & your spouse?

My wife is about eight months older than me. We're both products of families on small farms. We will celebrate our fortieth anniversary later this month.
  6. Thought you might like this

We had this bulletin cover a couple of weeks ago. I told a friend who uses John Deere that even our church endorses IH
  7. Walk behind mower.

Well, I'm embarrassed. I looked at the old Lawn Boy this afternoon and noticed the fuel shutoff lever was in the 'off' position. A twig must have moved it. It runs like a top again. When it died yesterday, I assumed the worst and just pushed it in the shed without a second look.

  9. Walk behind mower.

I'm going to need to replace the trusty old Lawn Boy. I need a self propelled mower with a side discharge that doesn't plug easily. We don't mulch or bag. Any recommendations from experienced users? Marv
  10. I don't always drive a tractor

    Mine always say Farmall.
  11. 656 hard steering

This reminds me of when I bought my 460. The owner said there was a 'catch' in the steering, but only when it was in road gear. That seemed odd. I headed home with it, and sure enough, the steering would bind a bit. I figured I had a couple of hours to diagnose the problem while I drove it home. It didn't take long to figure it out. The steering wheel wasn't factory. It was a little bigger. When the gearshift lever was in high, it was in position to catch on a spoke of the steering wheel. I pulled the rubber knob from the lever. Problem solved!
  12. A Corsair, an 'M' and snow......

Be careful on a manure or straw pile, makes it real easy to tip over. BT&DT!!! best, randy Thankfully, I don't think I'll have worry about that!
  13. A Corsair, an 'M' and snow......

Nope, flown them both, the -7s on were 4 bladers (electrical controls, trim, etc.also). If you look v(VERY) closely at a sequence of "Baa-Baa, Black Sheep" film you can notice one Corsair had 4 blades (F4U-7), belonged to John Schafhausen, the tech advisor on that series. And I notice that the M has the wheels turned inwards, narrow track. And did'ja notice that horn on the M? best, randy My M has the wheels turned inward, too. When I was a kid, I thought that was the way most had them, I thought my uncle's M looked wrong.
  14. 656 Gas Starting Issues

We had a high temp of -8 today. I thought it'd be a good day to test some of your advice. I plugged in the block heater and aimed a lamp at the carburetor for a couple of hours. It fired up right away. Thanks mader656! Marv
  15. 656 Gas Starting Issues

I drained the tank and added fresh fuel hoping for a remedy. It didn't make a difference.
