Anyone know of an AM/FM radio that will play loud enough to hear over an engine running over 1500 rpm? I was spraying with my 826 today and the radio I have isn't loud enough to hear over the fan at PTO speed. Try to go too loud and it's distorted so bad it can't be understood either.

Maybe should see if the headphone jack even works, and if I have any headphones.

Farming and Fixing, I fix and farm with red stuff, mostly. Usable tractors are 5288, 1466, 1066, 1206, 826, 806, 756, 460, 800 and 950 planters, 4800 field cultivator, plus other misc, and a yellow TR combine. Also an S1700 grain truck. Also a fun '71 Chevelle! And a '40 M to restore when I get time! 966 M&W turbo.

i am going to a set of ear muffs that are blue tooth. I can listen to music from my phone and it gives a hiccup if someone calls or texts.  On top of that if you can't hear the radio over the tractor it wouldn't hurt to wear muffs

Lyle i use REI out of omaha, for fender mount. Dad has one on his 1066, and he can hear it, I do have a set of headphones but have not used one. If you need i have a couple on the self. By the way quit drilling holes in those nice flat top fenders. HAHA!

I use a pair of noise canceling head phones plugged into the head phone jack on my 656. I use the same head phones with my iPod when I mow lawn. I really like the noise canceling.

My Dad had an IH fender mount radio on his Owatonna self propelled windrower that was powered by a Ford 6 cylinder. You could hear the radio better 1/2 mile away than you could on the windrower.

The radio was there when I bought the tractor.  :P I have bought radios at REI, just never a fender mount.

I was going to call you yesterday but got busy. Are you interested in an 826 with an M&W turbo to rebuild? I think he said it had bearing flakes in the oil pan last time he changed the oil. It was 2 years ago I saw it last, so I should call and see if he still has it.

Only time I turn mine on is when I'm working around the tractor with the tractor shutdown. The headphone jack looks like it's from the 70's it's so big.

Ah, the '70s and '80s, when you had a fender-mount radio from TSC on an uncabbed tractor and the neighbors could hear Joe Stampley or Journey a half-mile away. At least there was something on the radio worth listening to back then.
