Nope. Only a Cummins in the Magnums. I'd say 2.5-3 years in between. I'm not quite sure when the first magnum came out in 87. Or when the first red Case came out in 85.

The last 50 series were built in the spring of 1985 until Farmall was closed. At the same time, Case started painting their current models(18/2096, 22/23/32/2594s) red at that time. The 33/3594s were introduced later in 1985 for 1986 production(Case touted them as replacements for the IH 2+2s). Magnums were introduced in late summer(August, September)  of 1987-just in time for the fall farm shows.

Case was actually planning on releasing a new series of tractors(22/23/25/33/3596s) that still had the old Case powershift, but had the Cummins/Magnum engine, about that time. Thank God the Magnum was chosen over that proposal.

I was very sad that Case IH never devlopt the European CM line further and only chosed for the maxxums, The CM line is in Europe a populair second hand tractor.

IT was better that case IH folow a three brand strategy,

International brand (85 serie, CM line, 88 series and TRX project)

Case brand (94 series and 96 series)

Case International brand (maxxum series, CM line and Magnum Series)

Last 50 series tractor manufactured in May 1985. First production Magnums manufactured in November 1987. There were a bunch of preproduction Magnums manufactured from left over IH parts built in the summer of 1987 for the fall show season. I remember a 7110 2wd and a 7140 MFD displayed in September 1987 at the IPM here in Ontario.

Can you get any photos? They would be very interesting to see and compare to the production Magnum front end.
