I've been tractor pulling are 1066 for 4 years now. I have been running with the fuel pump screw backed all the way out. This year I also added the 3LM turbo. I had 165 HP at stock rpms with the to4 and have gotten it up to 185 with just the turbo change. I've heard of cutting the delivery valve on the pump to gain fuel but would like some more info on it.

This is a bad idea for the inexperienced to attemp. Plus there is allot more to this puzzle than meets the eye. Find someone reputable to do this for you OR bad things can happen. The cheapest would be you sieze the pump. If it runs away it usually puts a hole in the block

Good advise KRM. Don't go messing with anything on the head if you aren't a fully experienced pulling pump builder. Now, for something you can do, take the droop screw all the way out. It's down lower than the fuel screw, on the bronze governor lever, coming in from the back. It has a 3/8 head bolt, with a 7/16 hex jam nut. 185hp is pretty dis-appointing for one with the fuel screw backed all the way out. I'm betting the droop screw is holding you back. Also, you may need to point the torque cam follower straight up. (little finger looking thing that hits the stop plate)

I kinda thought the same thing Ed. Maybe a bad dyno operator?

Do you have any videos? What gear do you pull? And weight classes? Does it spin tires or bog out?

I know this doesn't pertain to your question but I am curious at this point.

The other guys are telling you correct, don't start messing with things in there if you don't know what your doing, get some help !!! If you adjust the torque and droop adjustments along with backing out the fuel screw you will have in that 280 hp range . You can change the high rpm spring and it will run 3000 and this will get you right at 300 hp. Just keep in mind this is approximately what you will have for hp.depends on your motor condition , cam , valve adjustment , timing . I have a dyno and I do a lot testing after I get done with pump adjustments and these settings will get you close and the newer style turbo will help you too.

These guys are correct. I pull a 1066 in farm stock 12500 to 14000 classes and I'm a 1st or 2nd place usually. I sometimes pull hot farm 12500 to 15000 and can hold my own have a few trophies. I only run around 225 hp. All I have changed is the fuel settings not even all the way out. My advise is to perfect your weight setup and learn how to read the track. In my experience I can out pull tractors with 50 to 75 more horses by watching the track and watching the lines of other pullers. Just my bit of advise. Good luck. Pulling is a great hobby

thanks guys. I have videos on youtube under austin tarter. the 185 hp was at rated rpms i believe 1159. the max hp was 242.

Would i be able to set everything back to close to normal if i mess with the droop screw and the tourqe cam follower?

Yes you can set everything back pretty close. I leave my droop screw out and leave it at 3k RPM. I flip the torque cam back down and go to the field.

I have watched your videos before.

The rated speed is not 1159rpm. I think it is 2400. Still seems low. Any engine work done? Blow by? Timing? Hours on the engine?

Mine did 150 on 2 or 3 turns and a completely worn out T04. It's set up a little different now

No i havent done any work to the engine, and the blow by is not bad at all. I have not messed with the timing assuming it is at stock placement. I believe the tractor has 5700 hours on it.
