can anyone tell me where to find an engine for a gas start diesel engine for a td9 mine locked up about a year ago kind of miss using her. About how much would a running engine be worth. what would a salvage value be if I let her go for scrap , I have a guy who is after me to cut it up for half of the scrap money don' t know what to do.

I've got two TD9s that I have decided to scrap. One is a 56 model year with a D350 that seemed to run fine though it has been sitting in a shed to about 15 years now. I planned on making one out of two but that is not likely to happen.

I am working on a 9 that locked up several years ago while idling.} I am not sure what I am going to find so I far I have found the fuel pump locked up. But I cannot get the engine to rotate I think is has sat to many years. I am trying to free it up and then fix the fuel pump. It might have spun a bearing but I don`t know what a spun bearing would have to do with a messed up fuel pump. So I have hope that I will not have to pull the pan. Worse case scenario it that there is a problem in the timing gears. I would say don`t give up on that engine unless it broke the block.

Worst case scenario you spun a bearing. You would have way less money involved if the bolt backed out into the timing gear. IMO your pump locked up from sitting and the motor is locked up from spinning the bearing.

Zactly. The clunk is likely the cam shaft stuck and you are hearing the gears take up slack.

If only the pump seized the engine will generally twist off something in the process, but I have never heard of a seized pump. Stuck yes. Usually from water in the fuel finding a spot inside the pump and calling it home for an extended period.

BTW, if you are within a few hours of Janesville, WI I will come buy your junk engine (especially if you know it has been rebuilt)

I have an antique International 135Q genset that has a 4 cylinder diesel, starts on gas. This is the same engine that fits some international dozers, and I am not sure which ones, but TD9 could be the one? Any help on this? Gen set is very complete and turns over. I had it started about 10 years ago. Good for parts or? It is within a few days of going to the scrap yard. Located north of Seattle,
WA Also have W9 parts tractor. Will load on your truck. Its too easy to turn this stuff into cash money at the scrap yard, and I would rather it go to a good home and useful purpose.
