We bought a super m and eventually wanna turn it into an @#$-kicking puller. What performance parts are worth the money and which ones arent? Theres a few little tricks we have done to our 47 m that have worked well for us. I want to eventually turbo the super but how about the sediment bowl eliminator kits or the high flow manifolds i see advertised for them? Are these things worth the money a guy would spend on them? thanks in advance,
Tony

How much HP is enough for your SuperM?? If you want to just do a overbore, Volbrights have some great Aries custom pistons, I got 75hp out of mine with stock stroke, cam and porting and polishing. I also modified the venturi and the manifold and shaved the head a bit. I really have not seen great gains with the intake and exhaust headder. Mine runns nice on high test and a bit of race gas..

75 would be plenty. Just kiicking around some ideas. The turbo alone would get it around 100 from what I've heard. So if I can get a similar gain using other parts then maybe that would be the way to go. Turbo Ive heard run around 2000 bucks. Hmmm.

The turbo kit looks really nice, You do have to know that the charger alone will not fix any problems your old engine might have. If it is time to rebiuld the engien you may consider something more than stock parts and THEN turbo it. Just a thought.

I agree. It will get a complete rebuild. I was just curious about some of the aftermarket parts that are advertised. I wanna make a nasty little puller out of it but I would also like to be able to still do field work with it as well. Just want the best bang for my buck as extra money can be hard to come by these days.

I don't know where you can pull with a turbo, its against the rules. Paul Marlatt 765-938-2227 or Gary Baker out of Mi. are two of the best at getting power out of a M. Stay away from Denny's he is a crook. If you are going to do some field work 75 is about all you can use without trouble. Most div 2 tractors are running 70-95 hp , div 3-4-5 are running 125- 200 plus hp. You could get a MW stroker motor 1/2 in stroke 4.25 pistons, get some cam and head work and you are in business.

sentiments on denny, heard bad things, and as for your sediment bowl eliminator all you need to do is crank a 90 deg elbow fitting where the sediment bowl was and run some gas line and some fittings from napa.. ;) might wanna try 450 heads, solid state hot ignition, domed pistons 450 carb, and things of that nature..

I have a Super M with a keystone charger kit on it. im making 95PTO horse at 540RPM. When and if you put the turbo on the motor needs ALOT more fuel so you need to drill out the metering stem and the main jet thats what i did anyway. You also have to retard the timing(can't remember how many degrees now) I also have mine turning 2400RPM which makes it build more boost and there for more power but im having a hard time keeping head gaskets in it, think im gonna go with a coper gasket next time. If you do plan on puting a turbo on it when you rebuild your motor keep it stock inside, the more compression you make in the motor the less effective the turbo will work. My motor only has 85PSI in each cylinder, its gettin time for a rebuild -_-. I have some videos on youtube under farmerboy2003 of the ol M pullin if you wanna take a look.

our 47 m has electronic ignition on it so we were gonna do that anyway to the super. it already came with a 450 head but has some cracks in it. where we pull there are classes we can pull in with a boosted super m. i love the advice im getting here now just have to save up money for the winter so i can start building the engine. i saw ur video a while back chris and was quite impressed! that m really gets on down the line! good info on dennys though as that was one of the adds i saw. why might i ask is he a crook?

I did not have issues with Denny being a crook as much as a COMPLETE lack of customer support, tact or any good manners. I bought two carbs and 2 governors from him. I called to ask a tech question and HE HUNG UP on me. I had removed his tag from the part to paint and restore the tractor. Because of a misplaced tag he had a fit. This is putting it quite mildly.. I called back to try to clear up whatever misunderstanding we had and he refused to take the call. His wife then told me off and said dont call again. During the time I was able to talk on the phone I never once rased my voice, demanded anything and was as polite and proper as a minister. This happened 4-5 years ago and I let EVERYONE I know how shabbly I was treated.

This is a sad deal, I know that Denny is a advertiser in Red Power, obviously he spends quite a bit of money with our favorite magazine, this I appreciate. I just feel it is my duty to let other members know how the buisness is run.
