After waiting decades, and thinking it would never happen, I will soon have a 1/16th scale model of what was, for many years, the 'big' tractor on our farm. From the steering wheel forward, the model is exactly right: gas engine, white grille, narrow front and no weights. Very disappointingly however, it comes with a fast hitch. I might be wrong but I think that would be seldom seen by the time of 656 production. I'm wondering if it would be possible to remove the 3-point from either the Hydro or the Demonstrator, and put it on the Prestige edition. Also, would the rear weights be removable? We never used any.

Glad to hear aswhile, I have a 656 that is still in use today. It has the fast hitch on it though. I had one other 656 that also had the fast hitch aswhile. So around my parts I would say the three point is different to see.

  • Interests:My biggest interest is with corn pickers. My dad and I still have the New Idea 319 picker for the 656. I have bought a New Idea 323 one row pull type, a MM "D" corn sheller, and an IH 234 mounted picker on a 706. I also have a couple of barge wagons, bush hog mower, IH 574, Heider auger wagon, and other IH implements just for fun.

My dad and I still have the 656 we used during the farming days and it is in use. I am so happy that the 1/16 was made. I got mine right away and it is amazing! Great detail for those who have a real one!!

That was a long time ago and yes I'm the author. Pulling that float was the highlight of my senior year, and high school in general, for that matter. This year is my Adel (Iowa) Class of '72 40th anniversary. We're going to have a class float in the annual Sweetcorn Festival parade held in Adel every August. My brother still has the 656. I seriously considered driving it to town (11 miles) and pulling the float. However, a classmate who lives just 1 mile west of town owns a restored Oliver 77. He drives it in the parade every year and would like to pull the float this year. I'll step aside.

My plan now is to surprise everyone with a 1/16th scale model of our senior-year float, complete with outhouse, at our class banquet. It will be hitched to my Prestige 656. I'd still like to swap the Prestige fast hitch for a 3 point from the Hydro, but other than that the Prestige version looks like our tractor.

That would be cool. You might want to contact(PM) Long Farms to see if he has any ideas. He does a lot of custom work on toys. He has a lot of posts with his work in this section. Eason
