The main reason I want them is because I keep bending my factory ones (I weigh about 375), so sturdiness is a big factor.

Ben you might put the hurtin' on the K+M's. Might need to fab you set that is extra HD.

I just don't know if they would be up to the task.

Yeah that might be what I have to do. The factory ones are ok as long as I remember to center my foot on them but if I ever mess up and step on the edge they'll start to bend.

I don't know if I'd be too worried....they appear to be the same basic step that's used on a 86 series.
I've never come close to bending those and weigh more than you do. ;)

Now if they would just make cab doors big enough for a decent size man (6'4" & 400 lbs) to fit through without twisting into a pretzel.

Some times I think it's a tiny world designed by & for tiny little people...

I know how you feel, I'm 6'4" myself. Chairs seem to be my biggest problem, either I can't get in them or they tend to break.

And if they would just make tables and chairs that are taller than for 5 yr old's play set it would help too....

If I wanted to sit on the floor....I would! ;)

Can't forget the ground level toilets either, need a crane to get off of one of them.

I have a set of K&Ms on my 756 loader tractor and I weight 250. They are not built for anyone over 200. I ran a brace from them to the underside of the tractor and it solved the problem. They work great for the loader tractor but I would never put them on a restored tractor. With a little creativity you could build a nice set for a lot less money. My 2 cents.

  • Interests:I have two Super M's, both 53's, a 76 combine, 2M-HD corn picker, No. 16 Heavy Duty 3-16" plow, No. 46 Baler, and lots of debt it seems. I love hunting, fishing, and picking corn, along with having good old fun. Most know me as Tim_Malin from the old board, and I changed a little bit. On my family farm I use a 46 M, 706D (282), 826, 856, 1456, 3588, 3788. Recently sold one 856. Over the last few years sold a nice 1066 and a 450.

Do they make a set of K&M steps for tractors with the diamond cab? I would love to make my 826 easier to get in and out of, but I really do like the cab!!
Rivertop Reds Dairy&Harvesting
I love IH!!! I own three 53 Farmall Super M's, though one might be a 54. One runs perfect, dare I touch it. The other is in 5 million pieces in my shed, being overhauled. And another has a mystery problem that I need to discover when I get a chance (might be just locked from sitting). Also an 826GD with diamond cab. Would like to exhibit my Super M and 2M-HD picker along with my 76 combine for interested individuals or groups.
Raised on a 46 M, 450G, 706D (282), 826 gear, 2-856's, BS1066, 1456, 3588, 3788 dairy farming in SW Wisconsin. Started dairy farming in summer of 2007 through a shared facility agreement with a very good friend/nearing-retirement neighbor of mine. Milking Guernseys, Holstiens (red and b&w), and crosses with breeds like Scandinavian Reds, Guernseys, and Red Holstiens. God bless small American Farms...
I enjoy dairy farming and custom harvesting with an assortment of New Idea Uni huskers, shellers, choppers, and combines (703,705,708,709RWA with 767,737,717,858 attachments). I combine small grain and soybeans with IH 315 and 82 combines Collecting 234 pickers and shellers, love my 709 but looking for the day I can justify an Axial-Flow...
