I almost pulled the trigger on an aftermarket ROPS from saginaw but it didnt look enough like original for my liking. I have a tractor with a factory ROPS I can use as a fabrication go by. I googled for an hour trying to find tapered steel c channel to weld together to make the posts and I couldn't find anything. Anyone have an idea where or who would sell this?

The quality aftermarket ROPS are the exact same as original with the only exception being the edges of the canopy being two piece vs one, very hard to tell.

It would be a ton of time and money to make what they do, lot of thick steel and welding. I don't see how you can come out on top, better yet without one disassemble to look at I don't know how you are going to make it exact.

Not trying to be discouraging, just pointing out the obvious.

Easy Bob used to sell a ton of the ones from PA and they were top notch units, and I am VERY picky.
That's what she said

My 756 has a ROPS that I can use as a go-by. I have made things like this before so I am not too worried about the welding part and its fun. The ones Bob sells are very nice I agree but wow, are they expensive. I like fabricating stuff but I guess if I cant find any tapered steel, I wont get very far.:D

Tapered channel is custom made and you will pay a pretty penny for it.
One of our projects is fabricating the skeleton of armored ROPS for our boys in Afghanistan.
Too bad you are not close to Tucson.

CAID Industries

Good luck.

What about taking box steel, cut a pie shape out of it and than weld it back together?

The liability's involved with a homemade roll structure would be huge in the event of an accident.

There still has to be someone or something to weld it together whether its "manufactured" or not. If he trusts his engineering and welding skills go for it. Most of the time homemade stuff ends up being overkill anyway and when I build something I tend to overbuild.
