What are the differences between a BTD-6 and a TD-6??
would a TD-6 workshop manual work for a BTD-6?

The British BTD6 had a BD264 diesel engine with Glow plugs. It was based on the US TD6.
I think a lot of parts will interchange & some will not.A lot of BTD6 parts have a 700/701/702 prefix...
for example the sprocket drive oil seal is # 702991 R91 .
The TD6 shop manual will be very helpful for you.Let me know if you need part numbers..I have both books.I also have some BTD6 parts here.
My favourite IH is the BTD6...great small dozer, with straight diesel engine.Drott versions were also made.
There are nice BTD6 pics on the Classic Machinery Network site....recommended viewing...BTD6_Drott.jpg

The (US) TD6 also had a gas-start-over-to-diesel engine, whilst the (UK) BTD6 had them (non)glow plugs and battery start.

That would make for the biggest visible differences between the two versions.

"FCUB59113" which country are you from?

The BTD-** crawlers were all made in Britain ( B = British ) and exported to many British Commonwealth countries.

The engine, BD-264, was also used in some of the larger British IH farm tractors ( Farmall Super BMD. Farmall B-450 )

The BTD-6 was built from 1953 to 1975 and went through several updates.

The Serial Number would help identify its build year!

Regards from Michael H.

I forgot to mention that almost every BTD6 Dozer I've seen has been fitted with a PTO.
The later A100 Drott was also fitted with the BD264 engine,& maybe the 554 tractor too. These engines really needed their glow plugs....

Hi Fcub,
No,I don't have a PDF file for the BTD6 parts book.Try Plough Book Sales or eBay...they do appear there.I can scan a few pages if needed.
For repairs, the TD6 shop manual will be very helpful anyway.
I have a belt pulley that will fit the TD6/BTD6,plus water pump, fan, gearbox parts, etc.

Post a pic of your Uncle's BTD6...we don't see many on this site.

The serial # is 6248

Serial Number should make it 1957. Rated @ 50 HP

The tractor's grille should resemble a Farmall M or W-6 farm tractor.

Your tractor should have a C.A.V. fuel pump rather the American Bosch used on the U.S. tractors.
