What can you tell me about an International 385 tractor.

Decent little tractor for what you describe. Have a 495, owned a 385 in the past, wanted something slightly bigger.
Should start unassisted well into freezing weather, we have a block heater for "insurance" but I'm in Canada so -20 C starts not unusual, depending on where the tractor was initially sold it may have the ether assist start on it anyways, which is fine.
You can still get parts easily in my opinion,

Grandpa's play with toys too!
"Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight, my Lord and my Saviour."
All things work together for the good of them who love the Lord.
So live that those who know you but do not know God will come to know God because they know you.
If you want a pick-up then get a Chevy or a Dodge----if you want a truck then get a Ford!

it has the ether assist start (white canister left side engine and black button below dash cowl)
Looks like a block heater fitted in rad hose too rather than the "pump style" one we have that is plumbed into it's own circuit from the block and back.
The exhaust has been cut down and spliced back on, ROPS frame totally removed from unit (our 385 was that way for low building)
Grill guard not factory, but looks like may be based on an IH front weight bracket (???)
has one remote judging from (a fuzzing looking) remote lever by right floor board / fender.
Would say it has no "T/A" as no dash lever to the right of column (never saw an IH 385 fitted this way, but have seen the toggle switch ala all CIH 85 series on the CIH 385 variant)
Can't tell much else other than looks like a typical 385 and should have all typical late 85 series features.
Retento, I checked that website. What got me was they have an International 485 but no 385 listed. I did see the CaseIH 385 listed on their site but didn't know if it was the same tractor.
no such thing is IH 485 (at least in North America) IH 484 and IH 385, became CIH 485 and CIH 385
385 and 484 very similar...bigger engine D179 and 42 PTO for 484, have to refer back the the specs, but seems to me 385 had slightly less hydraulic GPM(???)
Case IH 385 and IH 385 identical other than paint and grill.

495man not to start a fight, but I have a IH485 in the barn that was bought new in 1986 by my grandfather. Looks like the pic of the 385 only with white wheels, it also does not have, never had a rops. It was bought from our local dealer.
IH did sell an "International 485" in europe, I guess it is possible, I'd be interested in pics of it, i.e. to see the lights, does the serial tag have 485 or 484 on it? Maybe a decal screw up in doncaster? The white wheels would be odd too as the late 84's were solid red / gray. Not by chance a repaint prior to sale of a black/red merger tractor? 485 with IH grill and CIH decals. Anyways, you've got me interested!
As far as the ROPs, they were all supposed to have it, however, I imagine it depended on the dealer installing them as IIRC the ROPS were north american sourced, in fact the ROPS on the 495 has "fits 85, 95 and 380B tractors" on the serial tag. Our 385 did not have ROPS on it either, however they were removed prior to purchase.
