The 310 in dads 696 has done 9600 hrs it was rebuilt at 8500ish because we acquired it off a neighbor and it hadn't run for a while so it got a freshen up it's main job is our NH 358 feed grinder if you get a slug of wet hay when grinding I've had it lug to the point you could count the pistons firing then rev up again for 100hp engine I reckon thats pretty tough!!!! • Interests:I have two Super M's, both 53's, a 76 combine, 2M-HD corn picker, No. 16 Heavy Duty 3-16" plow, No. 46 Baler, and lots of debt it seems. I love hunting, fishing, and picking corn, along with having good old fun. Most know me as Tim_Malin from the old board, and I changed a little bit. On my family farm I use a 46 M, 706D (282), 826, 856, 1456, 3588, 3788. Recently sold one 856. Over the last few years sold a nice 1066 and a 450.

I'd sure hate to have it kill in a lug like that!!! Bet the ol' mill would be tighter than a guitar string trying to get it goin again. Is that 310 turboed? Boy 100 ponies is a lot out of a N/A!!! I'd love to have one!!
Rivertop Reds Dairy&Harvesting
I love IH!!! I own three 53 Farmall Super M's, though one might be a 54. One runs perfect, dare I touch it. The other is in 5 million pieces in my shed, being overhauled. And another has a mystery problem that I need to discover when I get a chance (might be just locked from sitting). Also an 826GD with diamond cab. Would like to exhibit my Super M and 2M-HD picker along with my 76 combine for interested individuals or groups.
Raised on a 46 M, 450G, 706D (282), 826 gear, 2-856's, BS1066, 1456, 3588, 3788 dairy farming in SW Wisconsin. Started dairy farming in summer of 2007 through a shared facility agreement with a very good friend/nearing-retirement neighbor of mine. Milking Guernseys, Holstiens (red and b&w), and crosses with breeds like Scandinavian Reds, Guernseys, and Red Holstiens. God bless small American Farms...
I enjoy dairy farming and custom harvesting with an assortment of New Idea Uni huskers, shellers, choppers, and combines (703,705,708,709RWA with 767,737,717,858 attachments). I combine small grain and soybeans with IH 315 and 82 combines Collecting 234 pickers and shellers, love my 709 but looking for the day I can justify an Axial-Flow...

George after seeing your love for the 282 I have come to realize you must have very strong thumbs, lol, I loss feeling in my left thumb from pressing the glow plug button, then do it over again with my right, then do the throttle-glow plug-starter button trick, lol, just messin' with yah, I love those old 282's. Always fun to hear the cylinders come to life one at a time.
That's what she said

The 310 in our 766 is not turboed and Merv and Andrews 696 would be unlikely to have a turbo either. The ones you see with non standard turbos out here are the 786B and 886B that had some sort of problem caused by the European pollution requirements of the time. A lot of the German engined "B" series tractors either had an earlyer model cylinder head fitted or were turboed by their owners to get some performance out of them. The 66 and early 86 series tractors were great but "some" of the later 86B series were horrible.

When Adam overhauled Dad's 706 German in college, part of the overhaul was, of course, to dyno the the engine. The lil 310 made 95 hp at one point! Too bad it was at an un-useable 3400 RPM!  Yeah, he re-set the throttle stop back to where it should be, instructors weren't to wild about the high RPM.
'66 1206 puller, '67 1206, '67 1256, whats left of another '67 1256 (parts), & 682 Cub Cadet are mine; Dad has a 1066 B.S., 826D, 756D, 3 706's, 2 w/ D310's, 1 w/ D282, '53 Super M (stage 2), 1640 combine, and a 1650 Cub Cadet. All located in Northeast Nebraska.

I really need to liquidate some extra parts laying around!
