I have heard of it, and saw a 756D with an M&W turbo. Is there concern with oil jetting on the Germans as there is the 400 series? My neighbor T'BO'd his 706 282, which I have heard of a lot with those engines, and he doesn't have the tractor anymore but he liked the setup. It didn't seem that he had any problems with it.

Out of curiousity, would it take a whole lot of headaches to take a turbo that was on a 282 to make it work on a 310? My initial thought was that if you made an adapter plate between the turbo and the manifold it would work, am I wrong? I don't know the make of the turbo off of the 282, but it has me thinking about putting it on a 310... I'm looking at a few 706 and 756 Germans right now. Hopefully settling on one here in the coming weeks. Thought that a turbo on that engine would snap it up nice, I'm not out to pull, just have a nice field tractor, especially running 234 husker/shellers and just do tillage, etc in the same gear it would without the turbo, just greater fuel economy and torque.

Anyone know of any nice tractors with a 310 that are for sale?

I love IH!!! I own three Super M's, 826GD with diamond cab, 1130 MF (the ugly duckling), 5288.
Starting dairy farming in 2007... What a ride. Record highs, record lows, record rains, record droughts...

Milking Holstiens (red and b&w) and Jerseys on our 70 cow operation. God bless small American Farms...
I enjoy dairy farming with my wife and custom harvesting with an assortment of New Idea Uni huskers, shellers, choppers, and combines (703,705,708x2,709RWA with 767,737,717x2,858 attachments). I combine small grain and soybeans with IH 315 and 82 (with pickup head) combines. Collecting 234 and 2-MH/2M-HD era pickers and shellers and attaching hardware.

I had a 1977 715 IH combine with the D-310 and I put a turbo on it when it was almost new.It was a factory M&W turbo kit that came off a late 706 IH tractor that was traded in to our local AC dealer. The tractor was run in the field at 100 horses with no engine problems.

I ran the turbo on my combine from 1977-83 with no problems. It sure was a horse when plowing thru deep mud.

Tim

On the other side we raked this over the coals and got one heck of a fire,

Mostly we were talking of torboing a D-358 and one of our overseas friends was kind enough to poast some specs from the DT-358 which we compared to the D-358 specs and then came to the conclusion, That those Germans could go either way, the berings weren't much larger on the DT about 2mm which to me as a machinest (in training :D ) isn't all that much, the M&W turbo shuoldn't be enough boost to hurt the D-310 at a stock fule setting, and it is pretty hard to tweak those Reobert Bosh pumps, at least if you don't Know what you are doing.

I have a Custom 756 D310 with a M&W turbo. Dyno showed 105hp. This has been a good arrangement. The tractor has over 6000hrs. and continues to perform, still all origional.
I also have a 3088 D358 with M&W turbo . This also has been a good result. Very good on fuel and good power.
Does anyone know how many Custom756 tractors were made?
