Does anybody know what the U2 engine on the Farmall A series was used for?

I got a spare U2 engine along with my Farmall A and I used it for a replacement on the original A. Worked just fine other than the starter housing was backwards.

Just curious.

My Engine List has the U-2 as being made from 1940-49 and the U-2A from 1949-57.
That suggests U-2= Farmall A (early model) & Farmall B

The engine used in the U-2 power unit is actually the C-113. U-2 is the model designation of the powerunit application.

The first U-2 was built August 4, 1939 -- serial number 501.
Ser. No. 502 was built in Jan of 1940.

The C-113 was used in the Farmall A, Farmall AV, Farmall B, Farmall BN, Farmall C, 55T baler, 55W baler, 64 Combine, 76 Combine, U-2 power unit. There may have been some very early Super A, with the C-113, but most supers got the C-123.
