It's called (imagine that) a "Series Parallel" switch.
Cole-Hersey makes them; I'm sure other companies
have them also. This is an electrically operated switch;
if you're looking for a manual switch, I don't know if one
is available, although it probably is...

I always thought I heard it called a "series/parallel switch" but so far at the auto parts I have'nt had any luck with that explaination. Now I have a part# from 53T to look up. Thank you very much.
I'll tell you why I'm asking. A poster on Agtalk is wishing to use two batteries in series to run a welder with and in parallel to run a different device with. A lot of fourwheelers and rock crawlers need these portable welders for repairs on the trails.
I will tell him to come here now and check out this thread.

Wilson Part # 61-01-3555
There are more sources if you do a search on the net.
Price varies from $60-$135.00 depending on source and how high you buy on the food chain.
Auto parts store parts people won't have a clue, a Heavy Truck/Equipment Shop is probably your best bet, instructions usually come with the switch.
Used to use quite of few of them years ago when I was converting the older deere 24V starting systems to charge properly.
Just follow the instructions very carefully and use good quality wiring and circuit breakers.
There is significant potential for series burns and damage with 24V systems so be aware.
